The NAACP Memphis Gospel Fest, is a Benefit For the Memphis Branch NAACP ACT-SO Youth Program. The benefit is April 28, 2012 at the University of Memphis Rose Theater, hosted by Sherry MacKey of 95.7 Hallelujah FM, Staring Lisa Knowles of the Brown Singer, Feathering Vincent Tharpe & Kenosis, The Barnes Family, Alisa Caldwell, Cathedral of Praise, New Direction Men's Chorus, special appearance by 2012 ACT-SO Vocal winner Tia "Song Bird" Henderson and dance presentation by Signature Ballet & Company, Clergy and special guest speakers. The doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.
The Benefit is for the NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) which is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.
ACT-SO includes 26 categories of competition in the sciences, humanities, business, and performing and visual arts. More than 260,000 young people have participated in the program since its inception. For More information please Visit www.GetToThis.com
