Women in Philanthropy Spring Event: Towel/Toiletry/Luggage Collection for foster youth
Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (PDT)
You are invited to United Way’s Women in Philanthropy Spring event! We will be collecting towel sets (one bath towel, one hand towel and one wash cloth), new toiletry items and new luggage and/or duffel bags for local foster youth at this event.
When: Thursday, May 10 from 5:30 - 7 p.m.
Where: United Way's offices (Google map impage to the right)
Women in Philanthropy members and supporters participate in the Foster Youth Emancipation Basket program through Sacramento County's Independent Living Program. Items are collected for the more than 300 foster youth emancipating from the system so they have necessary household items to get started on their own. Our towel sets and toiletry items are included in these baskets. Last year, we collected more then 350 towel sets, hundreds of toiletry items and more than 60 pieces of luggage. We collect luggage so foster youth have something to transport their belongings.
Special Note: Do you work at Allied Insurance, Intel or State Street? If you work at Intel, you can drop off your items to Lisa Watts & Natalie Stewart at FM3-2-A3. If you work at State Street, you can drop off items to Teresa Tri’s office on the 12th floor, and if you work at Allied Insurance you can drop off your items with Sandy Joslin. They will deliver the items to United Way from there!
This event is also a great opportunity to learn more about Women in Philanthropy if you’re not yet a member.
Complimentary appetizers will be provided. Event open to members and non-members.
