A Mid Summer Evening Tour & Social, Newport, RI July 16th 4:30PM

Hello everyone. Please join me on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 4:30PM-6:30PM for a tour of the recently restored, historic jail house at Fort Adams. Designed by Newport Collaborative Architects to LEED standards, the Redoubt/Jail house project celebrates history while responsibly incorporating current best practices and green building products. The space houses a “jailhouse/ museum” on the first floor and offices for the Ft. Adams Trust on the second floor.

Weather permitting, members of the project team will lead tours through the building while others enjoy an evening of socializing outside on the lawn by the bay. Light refreshments, beer and wine will be served. Arrive early and take the 3PM tour of the entire Fort Adams complex which includes fabulous limestone fortresses and tunnels with breathtaking vistas from the ramparts.

Location/Directions:  Fort Adams State Park  www.fortadams.org.  Parking is free.

Cost:

RI Green Building Council Members – No charge

Non-Members – a $5 donation is welcome, or apply the $5 towards a chapter membership the day of the event

Tours of the Fort:

Sign up at the nearby visitor’s center. The tour is $10.

What Else:

If it’s sunny, bring a lawn chair and a jacket. In the event of rain, regrettably, this event must be limited to chapter members due to seating restrictions inside the jailhouse structure. First come, first served.
