Basic Timber Framing

Instructor: JR Graton

4 Day Workshop, Wednesday through Saturday, July 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th

Class Times: 9am – 4pm

Limited Space: 6 maximum

Total Fee: $500, includes $100 materials fee

 

In this workshop, you will construct a small out-building in order to explore traditional timber joinery, including cutting mortise and tenon joints, fitting braces, and cutting and fitting rafters. The scribe rule method will be featured and discussed, as each connection between timbers is unique. This method requires laying out of joints in the frame using various techniques to measure and fit timbers, allowing for the irregularities of one timber to fit another.
