Illinois Violence Prevention Authority At-Risk Youth Discussion

Illinois Violence Prevention Authority is hosting a morning panel discussion to provide information on effective interventions and existing strategies for those service providers who are working with youth at risk of gang involvement. These interventions and strategies will establish support as well as help to develop a safe environment where youth and young adults can begin to determine for themselves a positive life tract.
The event will begin with a presentation by Tio Hardiman, Director for CeaseFire Illinois, discussing Chicago Gang Culture and Effective Strategies for Intervention. Then we will have a panel presentation by these well respected experts in the violence prevention field:
Kenny Ruiz, Director of the YMCA’s Street Intervention Program, Bessie Alcantara, Program Director at BUILD, Inc., Ameena Matthews, CeaseFire, and Christopher Mallette, Chicago Violence Reduction Strategy. The panelists will discuss the effective strategies they utilize in their work with at risk youth.
