Working in a Federal Public Health Agency: Perspectives from a FDA Reviewer (career discussion)

Date: Tuesday, May 8

Time:  12:00-1:00PM

Location: SMC Campus Center, Room 351

Guest speaker:

Brinda Dass, Ph.D., Biologist- Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Animal Biotechnology Interdisciplinary Group

This seminar will provide an introduction to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including various research opportunities and career paths.  Join Dr. Dass as she shares her current experience as a reviewer  with the Animal Biotechnology Interdisciplinary Group in the Agency's Center for Veterinary Medicine as well as her prior experience completing a FDA Commissioner’s Fellowship.

Dr Dass has an undergraduate degree in animal biology and completed her doctoral research at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas on RNA biology and molecular reproduction in the laboratory of Dr. Clinton MacDonald. She also has experience in preclinical drug testing for childhood cancers and animal models of disease. This foray into clinical research also included training in clinical research management and human drug trials. Her current position as a biology reviewer requires her to lean heavily on all these skills.
