Our venue is Acme Studio, a 5,000 square foot prop house in the heart of Williamsburg. It features 15′ ceilings and an expansive collection of antiques and curiosities.

FOUNDING FATHERS

Auditorium’s founders and directors are Kevin Balktick and Taylor Kuffner.  Kevin Balktick is a designer and producer of imaginative experiences and culture events, including the Winkel & Balktick warehouse parties, The Lost Horizon Night Market andHorizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics.  Taylor Kuffner (aka Zemi17) is a sound designer, media artist and composer who has performed across the world. Most recently, he is the creator of the Gamelatron, a MIDI-controlled robotic gamelan orchestra.

AUDIOLOGIST BIOS

FORMA is a Brooklyn-based synthesizer and drums trio. Together, Mark Dwinell, Sophie Lam, and George Bennett) combine Krautrock’s propulsive force with the hypnotic drones of early Minimalism to create “beatific beds of Kosmische rhythm and tone” (The Wire, UK). Their eponymous debut LP was released in 2011 on Spectrum Spools (Editions Mego). A new record is forthcoming in fall 2012. formasounds.com

MORGAN PACKARD planned to be a jazz saxophone player when he grew up. After quitting a jazz school in Boston and moving to New York, he wandered through drum n bass, classical music, and acoustic compositions, eventually learning how to create music software. He started working closely with visualist/programmer Joshue Ott, and also found himself aligned with musician and label man Ezekiel Honig. Josh challenged him to write better software, Ezekiel challenged him to make an album for his label, Anticipate. His first solo album, “Airships Fill the Sky”, pricked up ears around the world. His sound is characterized by constantly shifting textures, a minimalist approach to rhythm, unconventional use of traditional acoustic instruments, and a sensitivity to melody and harmony. morganpackard.com.

ROB BYRD is a Boston-based guitar player that has been performing improvised ambient music in a wide variety of settings from the legendary CBGB’s in New York City to the Burning Man since 2001. Fascinated by how sounds exist in time and space, he treats electric guitar with various signal processing equipment to spawn sonic pieces that are shaped by the location at which they are being performed. robbyrd.com.

ZEMI17 is a composer, musician, sound and installation artist based in Brooklyn, NY. He is the co-creator, composer and art director for the Gamelatron, the world’s first fully robotic gamelan orchestra. He is a featured artist of the Berlin software company Ableton Live, teaches audio production at Dubspot, performs with the group Zero Gravity Thinkers, and is the resident DJ for the legendary Danger warehouse parties. He has received grants and awards from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, The Trust for Mutual Understanding, New York State Council on the Arts, Indonesian Foreign Ministry, The Berlin Arts Council, EU / European Commission, James F.
