Relevant to folk and traditional artists; cultural, arts, and heritage organizations; festival committees, traditional performing and visual arts groups, and historical societies and groups.
Greensboro
has been involved in a number of Art and Community centric activities
since the early 70's. In 1994, The Nathanael Greene Historical
Foundation (NGHF) was recognized as a formal 501 (c)3 chartered with
the support and preservation of cultural activities and history in the
area. In 2005, NGHF refined its scope to develop a well received
annual conference and arts festival called the "Creative Communities
Conference" and the "Art Blast on the Mon".
Now in 2008, the
Creative Communities has been expanded to a series of Monthly Seminars
known as "Second Saturdays" designed to discuss emerging activities
and developments in sustainable communities, arts education, networks,
co-op marketing and a number of growing areas valuable to rural
communities seeking to attract artists, services, and individuals to
their community.
