Event Details

This summer the Charles Dickens Museum will offer the exciting opportunity to visit Dickens’s last home, opening the ground floor of the property in what has until now been only accessible to the pupils of the independent school that occupies the building.

Located in Higham, Kent, Gad’s Hill Place will be open from 25th July until 19th August, Wednesday to Sunday during the afternoons for pre-booked guided tours of the key reception rooms and study where Dickens penned Great Expectations, Our Mutual Friend, A Tale of Two Cities and the unfinished novel Edwin Drood. With objects from the collection at Doughty Street, the Museum will be bringing these interiors back to life and the exhibition will give a flavour the life that Dickens led there.

The £12 ticket includes a 45 minute tour followed by a light afternoon tea served in the Conservatory.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, separate family tours are available at 12.30pm and 1pm. Please email events@dickensmuseum.com to book.
