Pridefest Areas

KiDs Park

America’s Families are more diverse now than ever! With various living arrangements, multiple family homes, single parent homes, grandparents, aunts or uncles raising children, multi-racial families, adopted families and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) parents and children, our future is going to be as assorted as our rainbow with many life experiences, values and morals to share! Just like any other lifestyle, Albuquerque Pride, Inc. embraces and welcomes families of all kinds. Albuquerque Pride, Inc. has made great strides to enhance the annual PrideFest and Parade to incorporate family friendly activities in a safe community. Additional efforts have been taken in the recent years to ensure that our families can also celebrate their diversity and strength as part of this amazing community. The Kids Park is an alcohol and smoke free zone. A security officer will be provided for this area to ensure the children's safety. Parents must be present at all times when you are with your child at the Kids Park.

 Pet Park

This year Albuquerque Pride will feature a new section at the 2012 PrideFest—the PrideFest Pet Care Center.  The twelve booths and stage will feature such services as the New Mexico Pet Sitters Alliance’s booth.  This booth will showcase pet sitters in the greater Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area.  There will be a raffle, free treats, and other fun things for you and your four footed partner.  You will find caring professional pet sitters who love pets of all kind and lots of doggy kisses.

Poetry Slam

The OUTSpoken Poetry Slam is a great place to hear others and to be heard.  Come to a more quiet and reflective part of the PrideFest celebration where you can be a part of event by reading in the open-mic or becoming a judge in our championship slam.  Experience a dynamic and safe place for queer performance artists to develop and share their creative voices publicly through collaboration with each other, establishing bonds with national queer communities and their straight allies, and promoting outreach and education to Albuquerque's artistic and local community.

Unleash

Our sexuality is an important part of being human.  Having consensual, safe and fulfilling sex throughout our adulthood is both satisfying and adds to our growth experience.  Unleash is one of the many new features of PrideFest that will offer a private place for adults to receive education and experiment with new ideas about sex.  Throughout our many years of adulthood we experience changes in both our thoughts about sex and how our bodies react to sexual experiences.  Continual education about ourselves and sex is important in maintaining pleasurable experiences throughout our entire life.

PrideFest Weddings

Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque along with the Reverend Judith Maynard offer same-gendered loving couples an opportunity to get “married” at PrideFest.  While your “Holy Union” is not legally recognized by the State of New Mexico or the Federal Government, we believe that God honors your relationship. Each couple will receive a certificate, sparkling cider punch and a wedding cupcake.  Albuquerque Pride is generously providing a space for your ceremony with two attendants (or more) and friends and family.
