Event Details

Where: Meet at the PFBC new boat launch site, across from the Ice Plant in Glassworks, PA.

What: We will paddle about 3 miles on the Monongahela River upstream to Old Lock 7, pausing to look at various river access opportunities in Greensboro, then we head across the river to view the Friendship Hill National Historic Site’s river front, then go downstream on the Mon, to paddle up Georges Creek in New Geneva, then back to our starting point.

Tour Guide: Denny Tubbs, Aquatic Resources Program Specialist, Southwest Region Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC)

Up to 24 canoes & a dozen Kayaks with flotation devices will be provided by PFBC, so Denny and his crew can accommodate about 50 people (each canoe seats 2 ½ people comfortably - 2 adults and child!). This trip is for all levels of paddling, from beginner to advanced, and is perfect for families of all ages. It is an easy paddle, on flat water with minimal motor boat traffic. Hands-on training will be provided prior to and throughout the trip.

What to bring:
binoculars, cameras, polarized sunglasses for fish sightings, hat, boat shoes to get wet, comfortable clothing for the weather, sunscreen and maybe a sealable plastic bag to keep some things dry!

Bottled Water and Snack will be provided.
