That's right we are going to the BIG CITY known as Pittsburgh - to the very heart of 20th Century Western Pennsylvania Commerce. Back in the day the Strip District was the place where lobster and stuff from all over the world came before coming to us and of course before Walmart. Even today many specialty shops still exist along this historic corridor. Many with supplies not available elsewhere in these here parts (yep, or even at Walmart).
When you are done filling your saddle bags, we will be going to the Frick Art & Historical Center for a tour and some self-guided exploration.
Greensboro
has been involved in a number of Art and Community centric activities
since the early 70's. In 1994, The Nathanael Greene Historical
Foundation (NGHF) was recognized as a formal 501 (c)3 chartered with
the support and preservation of cultural activities and history in the
area. In 2005, NGHF refined its scope to develop a well received
annual conference and arts festival called the "Creative Communities
Conference" and the "Art Blast on the Mon".
Now in 2008, the
Creative Communities has been expanded to a series of Monthly Seminars
known as "Second Saturdays" designed to discuss emerging activities
and developments in sustainable communities, arts education, networks,
co-op marketing and a number of growing areas valuable to rural
communities seeking to attract artists, services, and individuals to
their community.
