doterati is hosting the battle of the year, with panelists duking it out for their framework of choice!

Join us for some pre-event networking at 6:30 pm. The "battle" will begin at 7 pm.

Battle of the Web Frameworks
If you had to build a website from scratch, which technology would you use to do it? Would you use an older more established framework, or a framework on the cutting edge of technology? How would you begin to make an informed comparison and an educated business decision? What if you could throw each web framework into thunder dome, watch them battle to the death, and see which emerged the sole survivor?

Well my friends, I'm here to grant your wish. On April 9th, 2009 four web frameworks will duke it out in "Doterati Arena," aiming to prove once and for all who has the right to wear the framework championship belt. The fight will consist of 4 rounds of 15 minute talks where each framework contender will tell you why you should use their own, and why their competition just doesn't make the grade.

Although the fight will inevitably contain much blood, sweat and tears, in the end the audience members will be the final judge as to who will emerge victorious (at least until next year).

Gregg Pollack
Gregg Pollack has been happily creating websites using Ruby on Rails for 3 years at his company RailsEnvy.com.  When he's not programming he enjoys speaking at tech conferences and creating educational podcasts and screencasts.  He is very active in the Orlando Tech community, helping organize BarCampOrlando, the Orlando Ruby Users Group, and Ignite Orlando.

David Rogers
Famed PHPer, unofficial Zend Framework evangelist, and all around "nice-guy", David Rogers leads the Orlando PHP User Group, is helping to organize this year's BarCamp Orlando, and participates in code-based mock-wrestling matches upon request.  He's the one in the hat.

Joshua Blount
Joshua Blount is a designer slowly becoming a developer. He likes python, long walks on the beach, and calling website users people. At joshuablount.com you can find links to a rarely updated blog and a frequently updated twitter account.

Jason Skipper
Jason Skipper obtained by BS at U of F, the first graduating class to use JAVA as it's core language '99.  He's worked with java web technologies since JSP 1.0 and is currently employed by L-3 Communications Mobile-Vision as a Senior Systems Anylst.   There he leads a JAVA team in the developement of a video application server that supports an In-Car DVR system for police agencies (www.mobile-vision.com)
