Saturday, August 08, 2009 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (GMT+1000)
This tour explores a number of Sydney’s public art pieces and looks at how they contribute to the public realms and the way they relate to the surrounding architecture.
From traditional sculptures, mainly found on public buildings, such as the Lands Office Building in Bridge Street, the tour will move into modernism with Calders ‘Crossed Blades’ commissioned as part of Harry Seidler’s Australia Square tower project and also look at sculptures that caused controversy like Tom Bass’s P & O Fountain in Hunter Street, more frequently referred to as ‘The Urinal’.
Please arrive at the start point 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
Bring a hat and/or umbrella - tours operate regardless of weather.
