Friday, April 13, from 7-10 pm, four UK artists are featured in a night of Performance Art benefiting a children's charity. Your $20 donation gets you in, an incredible view of the city and a glass of wine... best of all, 100% of your donation goes to Vanavevhu a children's charity which provides support and advocates for child-headed households in Zimbabwe.

This event is being held in conjunction with the Government Art Collection, UK.
Artists:
Industry of the Ordinary (www.industryoftheordinary.com) formed in 2003, is comprised of Adam Brooks and Mathew Wilson. Industry of the Ordinary (IotO) are dedicated to an exploration and celebration of the customary, the everyday, and the usual. Their emphasis is on challenging pejorative notions of the ordinary and, in doing so, moving beyond the quotidian. IotO will be having a mid-career survey, Sic Transit Gloria Mundi: Industry of the Ordinary, at the Chicago Cultural Center from August 2012 until February 2013.
Robin Deacon (www.robindeacon.com) is an artist, writer and filmmaker. Working since the early 1990s, much of his work encompasses live performance with a series of performed lectures that have explored journalistic and documentary approaches to arts practice. This will be Robin's first public performance in Chicago since moving here to take up his post as Assistant Professor, Performance, at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Mark Jeffery (www.markjefferyartist.org) is a performance/installation artist, curator and educator at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since 1993 Mark Jeffery has developed unconventional collaborations with visual artists, scholars, video artists, sound artists, new media and code artists, dancers, choreographers, curators, and writers. His works often involve public participation. He will be performing with atom-r. atom-r (anatomical theaters of mixed reality) is a provisional collective exploring forensics, anatomy, and 21st century embodiment through performance, language and emerging technologies. Participants include Mark Jeffery (choreography), Judd Morrissey (systems), Justin Deschamps, Sam Hertz, Christopher Knowlton, Blake Russell, & Kevin Stanton (performers).
UK/Chicago (www.ukusartistschicago.com) is an informal, collaborative group of Chicago based UK artists.
The Government Art Collection (www.gac.culture.gov.uk) For over 113 years, the Government Art Collection has collected more than 13,500 works of art promoting British art and artists. Works from the Collection are placed in British Government buildings in the UK and in nearly every capital city around the world, and are seen by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The work currently hung in the Residence of the UK Consul General to Chicago is from the Government Art Collection, UK.
Vanavevhu (www.vanavevhu.org) provides support and advocates for child-headed households in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city. Incorporated in Illinois in 2007, the organization is beginning its third year of operations. Elizabeth Mhangami, the founder of Vanavevhu, was born and raised in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and moved to the US in 1999. She is a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Political Science and Women’s Studies. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in International Studies with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies at DePaul University.
