Foundation Series Workshop 1
Why Should I Care... and Where Should I Start?

Wednesday, March 11th at 6:00 PM
DeVry University - Room 141, Fort Washington, PA

Food & Beverages Provided by Microsoft!

It's likely that the majority of you reading this already have jobs as software developers, are productive at work, and haven't felt the need to revisit fundamental object oriented programming practices since college.  So, your question might be why should you care about re-examining these ideas and how they apply to your work?  How will they benefit me?  My employer?  My customers?

This first part of this workshop will focus on the goals for the series, how they relate to the goals and challenges we all face in our jobs, and how we can use these ideas to create a solid foundation upon which we can continually improve as developers.

Steve Eichert will also be joining me to get us started with some of the most fundamental aspects of writing code - keeping it clean and readable.  Clean code as a concept is often taken for granted but in practice, how often do you see clean, understandable code in the software you work with?  Steve and I will review some of the techniques and rules you can follow to make dramatic improvements in your code quality immediately.
