Litchfield was not immune from the drama and tragedy that befell so many American communities during the Civil War. Teacher and historian Peter Vermilyea shares the experience of three brothers from Litchfield County from their enlistment in the Union Army to the battlefields of Virginia. As we commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Wadhams' story illuminates the experiences and sacrifices of Northern families during that struggle.
