Guest Speaker: Marten Mickos

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco has invited Marten Mickos as a speaker to SACC-SF Monthly Luncheon at Urban Tavern. The topic is "My journey and experience from MySQL to SUN Microsystems and everything in between".

Mr. Mårten Mickos is Senior Vice President, Database Group, at Sun Microsystems Inc. He was CEO at MySQL AB when SUN acquired MySQL in 2008. Through that acquisition he joined SUN. He was CEO at MySQL between 2001 and 2008. Prior to that he has been in different positions in telecom and software industry.

In 2006 Mr. Mickos was awarded the Audemars Piguet “Changing Times Award: European Entrepreneur of the Year 2006” and also in 2006 received the Nokia foundation award. He has a Master's degree in Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology in Finland.
