Event Details

Join us for an interactive guided boat tour of the Duwamish River to learn more about a critical environmental issue in our own backyard, and to see the impact and work of the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition (DRCC), winner of a WWF 2010 Pooled Fund Grant of $90,000.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) listed the Lower Duwamish River - a five-mile stretch through South Seattle - as a federal Superfund site in 2001, meaning that it is one of the most contaminated sites in the country.  DRCC, formally recognized as the “Community Advisory Group” for the Duwamish River Superfund Site, works to ensure that the EPA-led cleanup not only restores environmental health and protects fishers and families who use the river, but also reflects the priorities, values and will of the people who live and work in the region.

Learn more about the local environmental habitat being threatened, about the cleanup and outreach efforts our grant dollars are supporting – and what else we can all do to ensure the river is brought back to health and vibrancy.

Please RSVP by Friday, April 20, to reserve your spot.  Tour is on a covered boat, so it will happen, rain or shine!

WWF members and guests welcome!
