Ext JS 4 is the most advanced JavaScript framework available for development of enterprise cross-platform web applications. It includes rich set of UI components, has well designed event model, advanced layouts, and promotes using OOP and MVC for developing UI.

This 2-day Ext JS training is targeted at enterprise software developers who need to get up to speed with Ext JS as quickly as possible. This is a Bring Your Own Laptop event. This workshop is a fifty-fifty mix of lectures and hands-on exercises. Attendees will receive all course materials used in class and solutions to all exercises. 

Pre-requisites

The attendees should understand the basics of HTML and be  comfortable with JavaScript language. If your JavaScript is a little rusty, brush it up by reading the book by Douglas Crockford "JavaScript: The Good Parts" or you can attend our one-day workshop "JavaScript for Java Developes".

Day 1

JavaScript tooling: development and debugging.

Ext JS as an Object-Oriented ecosystem for JavaScript. Defining, creating and extending Ext JS classes. Overrides and Mixins.

Using Ext JS online documentation.

Starting your project with and without Ext JS MVC.

Partitioning application logic with Views and Controllers.
Containers, components, and Layouts. 

Ext JS Component Livecycle.

Dynamic Class Loading. Minifying and deploying the application.

How to Unit Test Ext JS applications.

Visual design of Ext JS UI with Sencha Designer

Day 2

Ext JS Data Package 

Models, Stores and more MVC. Proxies, Readers and Writers.

Exchanging data with the server via the AJAX proxy.

Using Ext Direct to remote to Java application servers.

Offline data storage via LocalStorage and Session Proxies.

Working with Forms and Validators.

Working with the Grid. Using templates and editors.

Creating a CRUD application: Ext JS - Java - DBMS.

Unit Testing, Documenting, Deployment.

Instructors

Yakov Fain is Managing Director at Farata Systems, a company that provides consulting services in the field of development of enterprise Rich Internet applications. He authored several technical books, and dozens of articles on software development. Recently he co-authored the books  "Java Programming. 24-Hour Trainer." and "Enterprise Development with Flex". Sun Microsystems has nominated and awarded Mr. Fain with the title of Java Champion, which was presented to only a hundred people in the world. He leads the Princeton Java Users Group and New Jersey Flex Users Group.

Dr. Victor Rasputnis is Managing Director at Farata Systems. He spends most of his time providing architectural design, implementation management and mentoring to companies migrating to Flex and J2EE technologies. Victor authored several books and dozens of technical articles. He holds PhD in Computer Science. Recently he co-authored the books  "Rich Internet Applications with Adobe Flex and Java: Secrets of the Masters" and "Enterprise Development with Flex". These days Victor is working on adding to our Clear Toolkit the ability to generate JavaScript/Java CRUD applications .
