The Societa da Vinci is a 501C (3) non-profit organization comprised of dedicated Italian American men in the Greater Wilmington Delaware community. Our mission is to promote and advance the rich, but often invisible, cultural heritage of the Italian people through education, service, charity and community events. On Friday, April 13, 2012 from 7pm to 10pm, the Societa’ da Vinci will present “Primavera da Vinci”, a springtime food and wine celebration at the Hilton Wilmington/Christiana. This inaugural event is a culinary and wine extravaganza featuring an array of masterpieces prepared by renowned chefs complimented by fine wines. You’ll enjoy live cooking demonstrations, fabulous entertainment and a silent auction featuring weekend getaways, luxury items, fine wines, gift certificates to local restaurants, golf, sports memorabilia and a trip to Italy. This event will kick off at 6PM with an exclusive VIP Champagne and Hors D’oeuvres reception.
Societa’ da Vinci also presents one of the region’s most popular fall festivals, Vendemmia da Vinci. On Sunday, October 9, 2011 we held our 8th annual Vendemmia Harvest of the Grapes Wine and Food Festival at Tubman-Garrett Park on the beautiful Wilmington Riverfront. This year’s attendance reached over 2,600 people, including many who traveled from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and as far away as Italy. Our guests sampled wines from every region of Italy, fantastic food from 32 restaurant and food vendors, a silent auction with over 60 items as well as enjoying day long professional entertainment. This event also featured a homemade gravy contest, a hand crafted wine making contest and a drawing for a trip to Italy for 2 people.
100% of the profits generated from the Primavera and Vendemmia events go directly back to the community through our grants program. These grants fund scholarships, families in need, cultural events, Italian based educational programs and emergency requests.
