ISRA is a South Carolina-based American Muslim organization which is working to revive the spiritual essence of Islam and its noble traditions. This year ISRA is holding its 9th annual convention in Atlanta, Georgia on May 26-28, during the Memorial Day weekend to commemorate Prophet Muhammad's birthday.The theme of this year’s convention is : “Holy Prophet Muhammad (saws): The Light Of Guidance" . It is only by knowing him that people fall in love with a most beautiful human being. ‘I was only sent to perfect noble character,’ said the man declared by God as ‘A Mercy To All The Worlds'.Today we painfully watch his message of peace, compassion and mercy being distorted by the actions of some for their own ends At a time when the Prophet's virtues are under attack, both from within and outside of his Ummah, At a time when Muslims are troubled by his portrayal in the media by some in the worst light, it becomes extemely important and necessary for us to reflect on his lofty status and noble characterstics. How could the man known and loved by more than a billion people around the world be so vilified and maligned by those who claim to represent him and also by those who aim to be unbiased interpreters? The purpose of this gathering is to remind everyone that Muhammad, Peace be upon Him, was a humble, shy, reticent man who lived among his people with such high moral character they called him ‘al-Amin,’ which means, ‘The Trustworthy.’ Muslims always remember that he was sent by God as a Mercy to all the Worlds. He is the most perfect man as he manifested Allah’s Divine attributes of mercy, compassion and kindness through his blessed life.He is the source of Divine Guidance and a light of God sent to remove the darkness of ignorance and evil to show humanity the straight path.

ISLAMIC STUDIES &RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (ISRA)

The Islamic Studies and Research Association (ISRA) was founded by the grace of Allah, by Syed Zain al-Abedin in 1987, in the United States of America. Its members have worked informally through various, local, regional, and national organizations on several projects to enhance and spread Islamic knowledge. ISRA was revived in 1998 as an international organization through the work of many prominent Muslims from a variety of schools of thoughts and perspectives. Since its revival, ISRA has made remarkable progress in presenting Islam as a comprehensive deen based upon islam, iman, and ihsan (tasawwuf). Over a short period of time, the organization has come to enjoy many great successes and its appeal is steadily growing on an international level. The affairs of ISRA are guided by the concept of shura through a council named the Irshad Council. The Irshad Council consists of a working committee and a board of distinguished scholars and shaykhs who serve as Islamic advisors to the council.
