Spacetaker is thrilled to welcome back Dianne Debicella, Program Director of Fiscal Sponsorship at Fractured Atlas, for the second year in a row!
What is it? This seminar is designed to explore the benefits and use of Fractured Atlas’s fiscal sponsorship program as a fundraising tool. The session will include an overview of fiscal sponsorship and how to apply, how to use the tools within the program, and an introduction to fundraising. We'll explore the benefits and tools of crowdfunding sites, such as IndieGoGo, Kickstarter, and RocketHub. Find out how to make crowdfunding an effective fundraising tool, and how to turn your donors into your audience. We will also explore how these resources can be used in conjunction with fiscal sponsorship.
What is fiscal sponsorship? Fiscal Sponsorship is a financial and legal system by which a legally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (such as Fractured Atlas) provides limited financial and legal oversight for a project initiated independently by an artist. That "project" might be a one-time project or an independent artist or even an arts organization that does not have its own 501(c)(3) status. Once sponsored in this way, the project is eligible to solicit and receive grants and tax-deductible contributions that are normally available only to 501(c)(3) organizations.
What is Fractured Atlas? Fractured Atlas is a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists and arts organizations. Their programs and services facilitate the creation of art by offering vital support to the artists who produce it. FA helps artists and arts organizations function more effectively as businesses by providing access to funding, healthcare, education, and more, all in a context that honors their individuality and independent spirit.
