Event Details

The James J. Hill Library, a hot spot for researchers and brides, is giving the rest of us an opportunity to mingle with local singles in an intellectual way! The Hill Library is playing matchmaker by using their setting to introduce Romeo to his Juliet or Juliet to her Romeo. Discussion will be centered on their favorite literary read of all-time, or their favorite book of the moment. The bar scene isn’t for everyone, so other than online dating services or adventure-based dating, this is a fun alternative for those that enjoy a good read!

From 7- 9 pm on February 22, guests can enjoy bright discussion, trivia with “Sassy Lassy” creator, John Cosgrove, and cocktails.  Tickets are only $10 and advance registration is required.  Space is limited.

So how does this work? Participants are given a number and a card similar to one you would use to check out a book. After a two-minute intellectual chat, each participant will indicate their number preference.  Participants will hand in their card to staff that will connect people indicating a mutual interest.

Features:

  • Sassy Lassy Trivia
  • Cash Bar

Note:

  • For Romeos looking to meet their Romeo or Juliet’s looking to meet their Juliet, we’ll be offering a Literary Speed Dating for you at a later date!

James J. Hill Reference Library

James J. Hill Library offers free business resources and is considered one of the most comprehensive business libraries in the country. The library is also a well-known wedding venue for couples wanting to add a unique, but traditional look to their big day.

The James J. Hill Reference Library has awed and inspired visitors with its stunning architecture since it opened to the public in 1921. Constructed of Tennessee marble and Minnesota sandstone, it is a living monument to “the Empire Builder,” James J. Hill, and a beloved landmark situated on one of the most beautiful urban parks in the country, Rice Park, in the heart of downtown Saint Paul. The library is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is considered one of the best examples of Beaux Arts architecture in Minnesota.
