There are an arsenal of treatment programs and techniques that Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) use to treat language deficits in adults with neurogenic cognitive-communicative disorders. In today’s society, SLPs are required by different third party payer sources, government, families, and customers to demonstrate how therapeutic intervention impact functional outcome in the patient’s daily life. This class will provide the participant with evidence based treatment programs and approaches that have anecdotal evidence that are used in treating acquired cognitive-linguistic disorders.
At the end of this course attendees will be able to…
1. Discuss psychosocial/functional approaches to intervention
2. Discuss traditional approaches to intervention
3. Discuss cognitive approach to intervention
