Owning A Green Network – David Phoebus
Networking: to interact socially for the purpose of getting connections or personal advancement. Many people see networking as an activity you do when you want something (i.e. a job) and don’t begin networking until they must (i.e. unemployed). A strong personal network needs to be created long before a job search is necessary and has much more value than just finding a job.
In this session we’ll discover how a personal network is much like a beautiful lawn. It takes planning and hard work to grow and requires an ongoing commitment to keep alive. We’ll explore the parts of a networking plan. Who do you want to meet? What do you want from them? How do you meet them? How do you keep track of them? Finally, how do you maintain an ongoing connection with them? You’ll see that successful people view networking as an ongoing process that is integrated into their professional development plan.

David Phoebus - Presenter & Panel Member
David Phoebus is the Director of Recruiting in the Indianapolis office of Resources Global Professionals, a global consulting firm working with midmarket and large companies across multiple industries. He works regularly with senior executives in transition who are looking to explore new career opportunities. Prior to his current position, David worked in finance and operational roles within the sales and marketing functions of consumer products companies. Raised in Northern Indiana, David now lives in Carmel with his wife and two sons. He has a BS in Accounting from Indiana University and an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. David teaches in the graduate school of a local university and volunteers his time to help college students prepare for the job market.
Neil Fisher- Panel Member
Neil Fisher has over eleven years of experience in Talent Management; including HR generalist, campus and experienced hire recruiting, and coaching. He served in a national role as a Coach on the Deloitte Internal Mobility team, and most recently as a Transition Assistance Coach.
He joined Deloitte Services LP after serving as an HR Generalist for ONEX, Inc., where he was responsible for the growth and development of the HR function locally and within remote office locations.
Neil currently sits on the Human Resource Advisory Board at his alma mater, Ball State University.
Kim Lane-Panel Member
Kim Lane is the Indianapolis Branch Manager for Creative Financial Staffing (CFS), an affiliate of the CPA Firm, Crowe Horwath LLP. As the Director of Business Development, my top priority is to develop strong working relationships with companies across Indianapolis in need of accounting staffing and recruiting services. Prior to CFS, Kim spent over 12 years in banking in Central Indiana and was most recently at KeyBank as a Vice President in Private Banking and Investing. Kim received her BS from the Kelley School of Business at IU, Bloomington. Kim serves on the board of Hamilton County Vesta Foundation for Children, Inc. (“Chaucie’s Place”) and is active in the Zionsville Chapter of Tri Kappa.
