Speaker:      Lulzim Basha, Mayor of Tirana    
Moderator:     Dr. Michael Haltzel, Senior Fellow, Center for Transatlantic Relations

Since assuming office last June, Lulzim Basha, Mayor of Tirana, has embraced a style of leadership that emphasizes direct engagement with citizens.  He has created a consumer protection agency, gotten the municipal government to adopt tax reform measures to promote investment and employment, and initiated work on a new urban plan.  Earlier in his career Mr. Basha served as Foreign Minister of Albania and as Minister of Public Works, Transport, and Telecommunications.  Mayor Basha will discuss his innovations in governing, as well as the turbulent political scene in Albania.
