As a marketer, you are asked to define target audiences, develop a value proposition, create break-through campaigns, and deliver results for your school. A finely honed marketing and communications toolkit is essential but it’s only one of the keys to success. More often, marketers are being looked to for institutional leadership.

But leadership can be difficult in the decentralized world of higher education. How do you lead a group of people who don’t report to you, have different objectives and expectations than you, and who don’t really want to be led.

Deborah Maue, Associate VP for University Marketing at DePaul, will share her experience and thoughts about how to be a successful marketing leader in higher education. Deb will talk about how she’s been a successful marketing leader at DePaul, by bringing some tricks and tools from her prior life as a consumer packaged goods brand director. This is an interactive session, so bring your toughest leadership questions.
