Kidada Williams, Assistant Professor, Wayne State University
Kidada E. Williams earned her BS and MA from Central Michigan University and her PhD in History from the University of Michigan in 2005. She joined the History Department at Wayne State University as an assistant professor in fall 2006. Williams specializes in African American history, violence and victimization, and social movements. She has just completed a book titled They Left Great Marks on Me: African Americans' Testimonies about Racial Violence from Emancipation through World War I (forthcoming 2012).
Donna Braden, Curator of Public Life, Lead Experience Developer, The Henry Ford
Donna Braden is a Curator at The Henry Ford specializing in American material culture and cultural history. She has worked at The Henry Ford since 1977 and is the author of numerous articles and publications including the book Leisure and Entertainment in
America. As both curator and lead experience developer, she has played a leadership role in developing and shaping new exhibitions at The Henry Ford including With Liberty and Justice for All. Donna has spearheaded numerous visitor studies efforts that have informed our visitor engagement strategies and immersion experiences in exhibits in Henry Ford Museum and sites in Greenfield Village. She has consulted and lectured widely on domestic life and technology; leisure, pleasure travel, and entertainment; and toys and childhood history.

Join us for an interactive musical and dramatic performance Minds on Freedom that makes the story of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s “come alive!” The show celebrates those groups and individuals who had the courage and commitment to ask for more from their nation.

Upon Arrival: Please park in the main West Lot (on the corner of Village Rd and Oakwood Blvd) and enter at the IMAX Theatre (connected to Henry Ford Museum). This event will take place in the Anderson Theatre which is between the IMAX entrance and the Clock Tower Entrance of Henry Ford Museum.
Parking - parking is free for this event. A $5 parking fee will be charged to non-members who purchase tickets to Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village or the Ford Rouge Factory Tour.
