8 Keys to Recovery from an Eating Disorder: Effective Strategies from Therapeutic Practice & Personal Experience will provide a unique perspective of the therapeutic process as it details therapeutic work including keys to recovery along with insights, strategies and resistance from the perspective of both therapist and patient. Topics include motivation, strengthening the healthy self, and feeling one’s feelings, to exploring “conscious eating,” a way of helping clients incorporate structure, nutrition education and intuitive awareness in order to make peace with food and one’s body. Specific assignments and exercises will be provided that the authors have used to help clients successfully recover. Participants will learn ideas for helping clients explore a deeper relationship with themselves, others and the world around them enabling them to gain an understanding, not just of what they are recovering from, but what they are recovering to.

Carolyn Costin, M.A., M.Ed., MFT, CEDS, is a specialist in the field of eating disorders with her own recovery and over 30 years of experience behind her. Her desire to integrate state of the art eating disorder treatment with alternative therapies, mindfulness training and the use of a natural setting, led to the 1996 opening of Monte Nido, her first residential program in Malibu and its subsequent programs under Monte Nido and Affiliates. Carolyn is passionate as a therapist, teacher and educator and is a sought out speaker at national and international conferences. She is known for her long held, publicly expressed and now verified stance that those with eating disorders can be fully recovered. Her books, 8 Keys to Recovery from an Eating Disorder, The Eating Disorder Source Book, 100 Questions and Answers About Eating Disorders and Your Dieting Daughter, have helped professionals and the lay public in understanding, treating and preventing eating disorders.
