Press release:

CAPE CHARLES -- On Saturday, February 4, at 6:30 p.m., Arts Enter will debut Dinner Theatre at the Palace with Love Letters, a Pulitzer Prize nominated play written by A.R. Gurney, directed by Larry Lovelady, and produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

The critically acclaimed work is centered on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III.  They sit side by side at a table and read the notes, letters, and cards - in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats - that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.

Arts Enter is pleased to bring Larry Lovelady back to the Eastern Shore to both direct and co-star in this production with Clelia Sheppard.  Lovelady currently resides in Winchester, Virginia, where he serves as Drama Teacher at John Handley High School and directs the city-wide musicals and other productions throughout the year.  He is well-known and loved on the Shore for his many years as the Drama and English Teacher at Northampton High School, Broadwater Academy, and Chincoteague High School, and for his starring roles with the Madrigals and with the Trawler Dinner Theatre.  He has been trained at Second City in Chicago for Improvisational Theatre and improvisation for the classroom. Over ten years ago, Larry previously performed this production with Terry Bliss at Kerr Place.  Better known as an oil painter and scenic designer, and as the founder of Arts Enter Cape Charles, Clelia Sheppard expresses her love for the arts both behind the scenes and on the stage, having appeared in and directed numerous Arts Enter theatrical productions.

The dinner will include seasonal soup, bread, a light main course, and dessert.  A cash bar will be available in the lobby.  The play will be presented at the Historic Palace Theatre, at 305 Mason Avenue in Cape Charles. Tickets are $25 and are available at The Stage Door Gallery, 301 Mason Avenue, and at the door, as well as by calling 331-2787 or by visitingwww.artsentercapecharles.org.
