The multi-talented Ole is back! This time he'll be joined by Rita Cantos Cartwright. The always-exciting Priscilla Allen may show up to join the fun. They're here for two nights with musical director extraordinaire Rayme Sciaroni! You won't want to miss this great show! Ole is a San Diego native. He appeared in the Off-Broadway production of "Leave it to Jane". He has performed in and/or directed over 60 musicals with Starlight Musical Theatre, where he was named 2004 Man of the Year. Ole has also directed for the Welk Resort Theatre, Saddleback College, 6th@Penn and is co-founder of the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. Ole, with Arne Christiansen, wrote music and lyrics for 28 published musicals. Ole is a member of Actor's Equity and was recently inducted into the Theater Arts Educators Hall of Fame by the SD City/County School Districts, as well as having been honored by the Old Globe Theater and La Jolla Playhouse. Native San Diegan, Rita Cantos Cartwright, was on stage before she was born. As the first-born child of Judge Earl and Irene Cantos, pioneer performers of San Diego's Starlight Opera, her mother carried her when she performed the title role in Rio Rita. Rita's own professional career began at Starlight in Bye Bye Birdie at age fourteen. Throughout her teens and 20's she focused on musical theatre, casuals, and cabaret-style performing. Becoming a member of Actor's Equity, she performed with such companies as San Diego's Off Broadway Theatre, the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera, Sacramento Music Circus, and San Bernardino Civic Light Opera. Rita spent ten years in the recording studios, doing commercials, voiceovers, and demo records, and had a long tenure as national anthem soloist for the San Diego Chargers. With her musician husband, Robert, she played keyboards and sang in their band, Joyride. After recording a solo album which was released in 1982 and subsequently played worldwide, she recorded and toured as part of Sibling Revelry, a musical group with her brother Bill Cantos and sister Roxanne Fulkerson. Being a member of AGMA, she has just finished her 18th season with San Diego Opera. Last summer Rita began to focus again on her love for cabaret work as part of the Supper Club group at La Jolla's Café Lautrec. This year she is planning to perform her one woman show, The Little Room, a work that has been in the offing for over ten years. It's been a particular joy for Rita and her husband to be able to raise their children, Heather and Aimee, in San Diego and still perform in so many venues and musical styles. Rita's avocation that became a second vocation is a career in academia in the field of International Human Rights. She has been a professor at Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, and is co-author of Human Rights in the United States: A Dictionary and Documents. Performing at Schroeder's with Ole Kittleson, a friend from the early days at Starlight, is a particular joy and Rita loves that cabaret-style performers are finding a renaissance in popularity. Rayme Sciaroni is a composer and one of the premier pianist/accompanists in San Diego. Rayme has written numerous theatre and cabaret songs that have been performed throughout the country as well as a large repertoire of children’s songs and musicals. His work includes a children’s musical screenplay entitled We’re Kids and We Love It! An interesting note is that Rayme is from Todd Schroeder’s hometown and was one of Todd’s mentors on the piano.
