Event Details
Karen returns to Schroeder's for another fantastic show! She'll be teaming up with the very talented pianist/singer/entertainer, Glen Rose for a "DE LOVELY EVENING" - a night of Cole Porter. We're in for another wonderful performance!
Karen Giorgio and national touring artist Glen Rose combine their talents to present a delightful and de-lovely evening of Cole Porter – his stories and his songs. Together they bring to life the music and stories of one of Americas most beloved composers. Through Karen’s and Glen’s vocal and piano styles (they each sing and play the piano) you will revisit Tin Pan Alley’s most illustrious and prolific composer/lyricist on a journey through Cole's colorful and illustrious musical career which started during Broadway’s “Golden Age” of music of the 1920s.
Storytelling is a big part of the show. They will fill your heart and mind with delightful stories about this eccentric New Yorker who was well known for his sophisticated songs. Not only will you leave the theater humming Cole's "Night and Day" or “Anything Goes" but you'll know the endearing stories behind the songs.
“This may be the most fun-filled show you will ever see about Cole Porter as Karen & Glen bring Cole Porter to life in song and story.”
This production is the incarnation of a project that Karen and Glen had envisioned and nurtured over several years and draws upon their wealth of knowledge on Cole Porter.
Karen's Theater background and rapport with her audiences make her a natural for the cabaret venue. Raised in New York and trained in both voice and piano she made her debut at the age of 10 as Francie in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" which toured the east coast. After moving to California she continued her education in the performing arts at Hollywood High School where she starred in many musical productions. A 5-year tour playing and singing in major hotels and cruise ships throughout the world included Scandinavia where she met Glen.
Karen thrives on the challenge of engaging her audiences whether at the piano or on stage. Her main goal and "bandwagon" is to help keep live music alive in this era of electronic synthesis. She has produced and starred in her own Cabaret Shows locally at the Seville Theatre and the Top of the Park. Karen continues to make local appear-ances including special evenings at the Westgate Hotel where she has met and sung with such celebrities as George Benson and Robert Goulet. She delights in presenting the talents of her many musical friends at these venues.
This will be Karen's third appearance at Schroeder's.

Glen Rose Bio
How best to describe GLEN ROSE? Raconteur? Cabaret-style entertainer? Educator? Broadway historian? Mr. Rose, who worked in Hollywood's movie musical scene in the 1970s and played European cabarets through the 80's, is also an educator and text book author as well as a composer of over 100 on air jingles. His versatility dazzles audiences with a complete musical experience that highlights a special slice of Americana known as Tin Pan Alley. Now on national tour with this popular "Tin Pan Alley Days" series and demonstrating a thorough knowledge of this treasured time, he brings to life the music of Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, and the great Harry Warren.
Glen’s singing and storytelling are built on references, fun stories, jokes and "bits" sur-rounding the songs that were written by the great Tin Pan Alley composers and lyricists. In Glen's own words, "I truly love bringing the music and times alive for my audiences, giving them a very fun history lesson on what was happening when these songs were written. I also love inviting my audiences to join in and have fun with me."
Tin Pan Alley Days came to the Escondidio Center For The Performing Arts where Karen joined Glen as a spotlight guest singer in his Irving Berlin performance. Now, in “De Lovely Evening”, they debut as a team in a project they had envisioned for years.
