Join the Revolving Museum for its first fundraiser of 2012 and for an enriching night of steampunk partying in celebration of Charles Dickens' 200th birthday!

The Steampunk Soirée will kick-off the Revolving Museum's Dickens and Steampunk 2012 initiative—an arts and humanities collaboration with UMass Lowell. Gears are grinding and flywheels will whirl as we use the literature, history, aesthetics and philosophy of the Victorian tradition as a topic of discussion, examination, interpretation and inspiration for Dickens and Steampunk.
This event is following UMass Lowell's bicentennial birthday celebration for Charles Dickens.
The Revolving Museum's Steampunk Soirée will include an unveiling of Mobilis in Mobili, a steampunk-themed exhibition in association with ModVic and Bruce Rosenbaum which will be on view for the Lowell Winterfest Winterwalk Thursday, February 9, 6-9pm. This month-long exhibition will be on view during our regular hours, Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm.
Attendees will enjoy a night of dancing, hors d'oeuvres, artists talks, presentations, demonstrations, and a cash bar.
Also, the event will feature a special live musical performance by New York-based duo Frenchy and the Punk. The Euro-American musical duo joyfully blends foot-stompin' folk, cabaret, world music, French chanson and `80's punk, with steampunk flair, vaudeville charm, pixie spirit and sophisticated grace.
