Developing your ACT Toolkit: Values exercises for those who can’t identify their values

About the workshop series: This workshop is part of a series of two-hour workshops sponsored by Portland Psychotherapy that are intended to provide practical tools that therapists can immediately use in their practices. Each workshop covers a single topic or exercise and the presenter will follow a similar outline: 1) a brief didactic introduction to that night's topic, 2) a demonstration of the technique, 3) time for participants to practice the technique in small groups, and 4) a closing discussion in the larger group. The workshops will be active, focused, and above all -- practical.

About this workshop: This workshop will provide you with some practical tools to help clients determine what their values are and how to take steps towards living a life more in line with those values. Some of the skills covered in the workshop will include the values card sort, the life wheel, and “trying on a value” exercises. The workshop will offer a brief, general overview of some of the key components of working with values from an ACT perspective. However, the focus of the workshop will be on hands-on practice using these values exercises. Participants will take away all the materials needed to use these exercises with clients.

AUDIENCE

This workshop is appropriate for therapists or trainees with any level of experience in ACT.
