OWA Coach Evaluation Process

For coaches in training who have attended and completed the competition introduction technical course.

The cost of evaluation is $80.00 (plus fees) per candidate payable to the Ontario Weightlifting Association (OWA).

All coaches and Athletes taking part in the evaluation must register as members of the OWA (link) as well as register for the competition.

 

All coaches whishing to be evaluated (OWA practical) must do so by being actively involved with:

  • A minimum of one new athlete, ideally of junior age (under 20 yrs) but, a senior athlete age 20 or over is acceptable.

a) Technical workshop completed

 

b) Coach must demonstrate they are actively involved in coaching a minimum of 4 weeks prior to evaluation.

Demonstrated in training plan.

c) Coach must contact Director of Education (OWA) with fee payment (This online registration)

d) Coach submits by email, a portfolio to OWA Director of Education at time of payment.

NO LATER THAN:

6 weeks prior to on site evaluation date

Deadline: Friday 25 February 2012

e) Evaluator confirms if portfolio meets standards, if so evaluation eligibility is confirmed

3 weeks prior to evaluation

f) On site evaluation and de-brief

Date of evaluation

g) Evaluator will provide final results to coach. If successful, NCCP registry forms will be completed and submitted to appropriate offices. 

1 - 2 weeks after on site evaluation

A) Coach must send a copy, in Microsoft word format, of athletes training program (last four weeks prior to evaluation/competition) 

B) Competition preparation plan: (must include)

a) Projected attempts in the Snatch and Clean and Jerk (All 6 Attempts)

b) Detailed warm up plan for athlete

 

This registration application will ask you to fill in this information when you register above.

 

NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION:

 

Please submit, this application, payment and portfolio together with your training and warm-up plan, before Friday March 9th. This allows the evaluator time to review and contact any candidates to request updates and information or revisions to submitted information in time for the evaluation. Portfolios received after March 9th, will not be accepted. No exceptions.

Eligibility: Candidates whose portfolios, do not conform to the requirements of the OWA or their evaluator will not be eligible for evaluation, no refunds will be given to candidates who are unsuccessful in their evaluations.

Training Plans: Will include the last 4 weeks prior to the competition, and will be no longer than 2 pages in length. Ideally 4 weeks should fit on a single page. Refer to the Example Evaluation Training Plan.

NCCP Number: Please contact the NCCP to receive your NCCP passport number. They will provide it to you over the phone. The OWA does not issue passport numbers.
