Event Details

We will hear about how we can meet our water needs without expensive and energy-intensive desalination from Rick Longinotti of Desal Alternatives and why we need desalination from Bill Kocher, Director of the Santa Cruz Water Dept. There will be time for discussion after the presentation. Whether you are a building professional, an environmentalist, a fiscal conservative, or all three, this promises to be an interesting and informative evening. There are no prerequisites for attending this event.

About the Speakers:

Rick Longinotti, Desal Alternatives
Rick Longinotti, MFT, worked for 20 years as an electrical contractor where he developed an interest in energy efficiency. He founded Santa Cruz Desal Alternatives, a group that advocates addressing our water challenges through strategies such as inter-district water exchanges, community-based social marketing, and water-neutral development. In 2012 the group intends to place a ballot initiative to require that the decision on desalination be placed in the hands of the voters.

Bill Kocher, Architect, Directory, Santa Cruz Water Department
