Join members of the DC Salsa Network for the 2nd DC Salsa Network Salsa Festival. This day-long event will feature dance lessons in Salsa, Mambo, Rueda, Cha Cha, Bachata and now... Ballroom Rumba! Along with improving your dance skills, improve your knowledge of salsa's long and distinguished history.
We call it our Salsa Syllabus! Courses include:
Fundamentals of Choreography 101 - For those interested in learning the process for producing a technically and artistically beautiful choreography--from the song selection to counting and dividing sections to staging.
Principles of Teaching 202 - This course will focus on several aspects. For those 1) interested in take the leap to becoming a salsa dance instructor, 2) learning and improving your current instruction skill level with commonly accepted practices and 3) how to know if you are getting the most out of your instruction time (and your pocket).
Salsa Films 303 - Study and watch films such as Palladium: When Mambo was King, La Combinacion Perfecta, Mambo Madness, and a documentary on Rueda. Screenings will take place during registration and between classes so all can view and learn.
Advanced Application 404-Understand the social conditions and influences that contributed to the development of salsa. Become familiar with the pioneers that advanced the new musical form. Enjoy an entertaining multi media General Session to be presented during dinner.

Later in the day, CocoCabana will offer a pre-selected menu for your dining needs followed by OPEN dancing to further practice and improve your newly acquired turns, spins, steps and overall footwork.

The DC Salsa Network exists to contribute to a vibrant and inclusive salsa community, to promote communication and cooperation, and to enhance the image of Washington, DC as a leading salsa market.
The Network meets monthly to discuss projects, the state of salsa, solve problems and conflicts, share news and support major endeavors. The network is comprised of leaders that have been active in the salsa community for at least three years and reach large numbers of people.
