Exclusive West of England Carbon Challenge and Green Capital Pledge Network Event

Engaging employees in carbon reduction

Engaging employees is the top priority for West of England Carbon Challenge members, according to our recent survey.

The case is compelling with research showing that highly engaged employees can improve business performance by up to 30% and that there is a correlation between sustainability activities and employee satisfaction and engagement.

Please join us for our next network event to hear about the principles behind best practice and the practical lessons learnt from an experienced practitioner. You will also have an opportunity to apply the insights to your own organisation and share your experiences with others from the network.

This session will help you answer the following questions:

·       How do you get your employees engaged in carbon reduction?

·       How do you maintain momentum and keep them motivated?

We have a huge opportunity to increase our impact through engaging the 80,000 employees represented across the network- more than a fifth of the region’s workforce!

We will hear from:

Ben Kellard, Forum for the Future’s own expert on employee engagement, who has been invited to speak and chair events on the topic as well advising a number of Forum's corporate partners including Unilever and O2.

Katie Hyson, O2 Think Big Internal Manager. O2 recently unveiled an ambitious new three year sustainability plan www.o2.co.uk/thinkbig Katie will talk about the three year journey that have got O2 to this point and some of the lessons learnt along the way.

Ben will

·       Outline the case for engaging employees.

·       Explain the principles behind effective employee engagement.

·       Given examples of initiatives and engagement activities.

Katie will

·       How O2’s engages their people in their ‘Think Big’ sustainability strategy.

·       Specific activities and approaches that have worked.

·       Insights into what could have been done better with hindsight.

The second half of the session will be very interactive, giving you the chance to hear the experiences of others in the network including what’s worked and what hasn’t.  You will also get the opportunity to apply these insights to your own organisation.  So why not join us to get cutting-edge insights, from both guest speakers and members of our network.

This event will be held at The Third Floor, Bush House, 72 Prince Street, Bristol, BS1 4QD on Thursday March 8th between 4.00-6.00pm. If you have any queries regarding this event, please contact c.small@forumforthefuture.org
