They say that everyone has a book in them.  I agree 110%.  I'm going to explore the world of self-publishing with you and share what I learned since I've done it.  I published my book "The MultiThread Marketer" in February of 2011.  I learned what's easy and not nearly as easy in the world of self publishing.

Remember this isn't just about full length fiction or business books.  This is about publishing ANYTHING you'd like.  Here are some specifics:

WHO SHOULD COME:  Anyone who'd like to publish a printed or e-book on their own and get it pushed into the Amazon.com marketplace, Apple's iBooks, or any other online distribution site.  If you're an author who's been stymied by HOW TO - come on along and let's explore how we can get this done togther.

WHO SHOULD NOT COME:  Anyone in the traditional publishing business who'd like to fight about the future of ebooks and print. Not interested.  Also, if you're looking for guidance on how to write, I will be guiding you through MY process and the tools I used, but this isn't a class in creative writing or non-fiction business book style.

WHAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT:

  • How the major self-publishing tools work and why you may want to consider them (think Lulu.com and Fastpencil.com) Focus will be on FastPencil since that's what I used. We will touch on Amazon's CreateSpace.com as an alternative.
  • How to publish on Amazon's "Kindle Direct Publishing" system and what that means for you and your work and your wallet.
  • Why you should consider getting a print version of your book
  • What are the biggest pitfalls in self-publishing
  • The different publishing formats, options, marketplaces, and possible benefits from using one or the other.

If you have specific questions, please ask them ahead of time in the comments section on the blog post for this class at www.secretschoolofbusiness.com/blog.

WHO'S TEACHING:  I am!  Doug Mitchell here and I published my own book and I'd like to share what I've learned.  I'm also a co-head master here at the Secret School.

WHY $7.01 - because that's how much Amazon is charging for my e-book on their site!

The Secret School of Business

The Secret School of Business recognizes that our educational system wasn't set up for the "calamity economy."  Things are simply moving too fast for a system with so many layers and governmental intertwinement to move the needle.  It's no one's fault.  But what will you do about it? The answer is the SSoB.  The SSoB is a tribe of Learners not Lukers.  We're actively fixing the education quagmire by delivering courses and material you just can't find in schools (K-12 through Doctoral).  No matter where you are in the educational spectrum, you'll find that the SSoB is the antidote for that nagging ache in your gut that says, "There has to be more out there for me and my kids." Welcome to the tribe.
