FAQ's

How important is it to attend an Open House?

Making a decision about where you will spend the next three years for law school is a very important and personal one.  We want you to feel that the University of Illinois College of Law is the best fit for you, and therefore we encourage all admitted students to visit the school before making a final decision.  An Open House often solidifies a student's decision about whether a particular school is the right choice.

May I bring a guest?

Yes, you may bring one guest.  Because of limited seating and to accommodate all admitted students who would like to attend this event, we ask that you only bring one guest.  We will attempt to grant requests for additional guests on a case-by-case basis one week prior to the Open House if space is still available at that time.  Please contact the host (see link on this page) to make a request for additional guests.

Do you offer a travel stipend to attend this event?

Yes, we do offer travel support to attend an open house.  Please see this link for more information.

Where can I get a schedule of events for the Open House?

Schedules are still being finalized but will be emailed to attendees in ample time prior to the Open Houses.  For planning purposes, you should expect to spend a full day at the College of Law followed by a casual evening out with current students and staff.

What meals are provided?

The College will provide a continental breakfast, a formal seated luncheon with faculty and staff, and heavy appetizers and drinks for the evening out.

How should I dress for the Open House?

There is no dress code for the Open House, but students generally feel most comfortable in business casual attire. The evening out is strictly casual, however.

What if I cannot attend an Open House but still wish to see the school?

We encourage all admitted students to visit the school on their own if they cannot attend an Open House.  You may still sit in on a class, take a tour and talk to a current student.  Contact admissions@law.illinois.edu to set up an appointment.

Where can I find driving directions, parking and hotel information?

Information can be found at this link.  Parking passes will be provided on the day of the Open House so that you may park at no cost.

May I attend both events?

Each admitted student may attend one event. We will attempt to grant requests to attend both events on a case-by-case basis one week prior to the Open House if space is still available at that time.  Please contact the host (see link on this page) to make this request.

I've registered for an Open House, but I need to change or cancel my reservation.  What do I do?

Please contact the host (see link on this page) to make any changes to your reservation.
