Event Details

Have you ever thought “What a waste!” when you see the rain water pouring out of your gutter down spout and then down the street? By attending this workshop taught by Pinellas County Extension Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ staff, you will learn how save that water in a recycled plastic barrel for later use. The collected water may be used for your plant beds, potted plants, vegetable and herb gardens, and special plant collections. All attendees will receive set-up instructions and a reference booklet. If you would like a rain barrel for your household you may purchase it when you register for this class.

There are three options for registration for this program.

Option 1 - Program Participant: this option provides free admission to the workshop. Individuals selecting this option will not receive a rain barrel.

Option 2 - Program Participant with one rain barrel: this option provides free admission to the workshop, and the participant will receive one rain barrel.

Option 3 - Program Participant with two rain barrels: this option provides free admission to the workshop, and the participant will receive two rain barrels.

If rain barrels are purchased during registration they will be available for pick up on the day of the class.  Rain Barrels are available only at the class and pre-payment is required.

Rain Barrel Specifications:  Plastic, recycled food-grade drums with a spigot installed.  Dimensions:  approximately 3' tall, 22" diameter. Capacity: approximately 60 gallons.  These drums have two 3" diameter threaded holes with caps in a NON-REMOVABLE top.  We cut a hole in the top of the drum large enough to accommodate your gutter downspout or an area under the roof with heavy flow if you do not have gutters.  Please see photo of these rain barrels at the top right.  We recommend the user attach screen to the top of the barrel to exclude mosquitoes and to filter roof debris.
