Free OpenWrap workshop
Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (PST)
Free OpenWrap workshop on December 10th @ Lier, Belgium
PeopleWare invites you to a free workshop on .NET dependency management using OpenWrap by its creator Sebastien Lambla on Saturday, December 10th in Lier, Belgium.
Most large .NET projects require several external (or internal) libraries and tools. Keeping track of these dependencies may seem a simple task at first, but as the number of dependencies grows, this task becomes a lot harder. Many of the dependent libraries in turn depend on other libraries, which also need to be retrieved and referenced: the complete dependency chain needs to be maintained. Take into account dependencies on specific versions of (shared) libraries and things become even more complex.
OpenWrap is a free and open source dependency management tool for .NET. It wraps the dependencies of your projects in packages and publishes them on package repositories. Projects must only specify their direct dependencies and nothing more. These dependencies can be specified with an exact version requirement or a range of versions. OpenWrap then takes care of downloading and, if desired, upgrading (or downgrading) all direct and indirect dependencies of those projects. OpenWrap supports dynamic dependency resolution at build-time, but also at run-time. It integrates with MSBuild or can be used with its own command-line tool.
The creator of OpenWrap, Sebastien Lambla, will talk about package management and show us how OpenWrap solves your dependency needs in the .NET world.
The event is free, but registration is required.
