Agile Data Warehouse & BI case study.
In this presentation Kerrin will share the UWS experience in applying agile methods to data warehousing and business intelligence. The presentation will cover topics such as why UWS decided to try agile in the first place, the flavours of agile trialled, challenges and lessons learned along the way, compromises made and an overview of the current process distilled and refined from various published approaches which finally after two years seems ‘about right’.
Kerrin has been working in the data management profession for over twenty years undertaking many and varied roles, including that of data modeller, data architect, and data and business analyst across diverse industries, including banking, insurance, telecommunications and public sector. Since 2009 Kerrin has been the Business Intelligence Manager at the University of Western Sydney leading a program of work to implement an enterprise quality BI platform comprising a data warehouse underpinning high quality reporting and analytic applications. With a small team, constrained budget and high business expectations it was decided to trial an agile approach.
