State bar defense, ethics opinions, and expert witness testimony in cases involving attorney duties.
Jerome Fishkin began in the profession with a general law practice from 1971 to 1978. He became a research attorney for the California State Bar in 1978. He became a State Bar prosecutor in 1983 and was the senior front line prosecutor when he left the State Bar. In 1992, he opened his own solo practice to specialize in attorney professional responsibility.
Since 2006, He has continued his specialty practice with his partner Lindsay Slatter. In 2008, Fishkin & Slatter LLP employed Samuel Bellicini as an associate. The firm practices solely in the field of attorney professional responsibility. Sue H. Handelman, Ropers Majeski Kohn Bentley
Susan H. Handelman specializes in civil appeals in state and federal appeals courts in addition to handling civil litigation matters.
Her practice emphasizes appeals and writs arising from a broad spectrum of underlying litigation such as real property, intellectual property, legal and medical malpractice, personal injury, insurance, business, banking and tax litigation. She is certified as an appellate specialist by the State Bar of California’s Board of Legal Specialization. She has handled cases in every one of California’s state and federal appellate courts, including the California Supreme Court.
Ms. Handelman is frequent speaker for, and is a program chair for, Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) and has been active in judging law school appellate court competitions. She has published articles; including “The Artful Pleading Doctrine” regarding federal jurisdiction, and other articles regarding insurance coverage issues. She served four years on the State Bar of California’s Appellate Law Advisory Commission and served a term as Chair of this appellate commission. She is also a trained mediator for the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District. Ms. Handelman has been named by Northern California Super Lawyers® magazine in the area of appellate law, and featured as a top appellate lawyer in the San Francisco Bay Area in Bay Area Lawyer Magazine.
She is a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Bar of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington D.C. (where patent appeals are heard), State Bar of California and is also admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the federal trial courts in California. She received her B.A., with honors, from Washington State University and her J.D., with honors, from Golden Gate University.
