Knowing the "Rules of Engagement" will provide an investigative officer with a legal foundation for consensual encounters including how to engage & disengage, 4th amendment issues related to search and seizure, and concerns for officer safety. This reality-based one hour webinar, presented by Mark Baker includes lecture and scenario-based training. It outlines successful techniques for the use of consensual encounter in a variety of common situations in the field.  This program includes discussions on determination of when to use consensual encounters, reasonable suspicion and probable cause. Decisions relative to this technique are based on the sum total of circumstances including behavior, recognition of suspicious and criminal activity, planning for a consensual encounter and consent search as well as legal documentation,court room preparation and testimony, and the current court's review of the encounter. There will be an opportunity for online questions and answers during the live program.

About the Presenter
During Mark Baker's 20 years as a law enforcement officer, he has worked as a patrol officer, deputy sheriff, criminal investigator, internal affairs investigator, boating homicide investigator, narcotics investigator, Lieutenant of patrol regional district, Commander of Patrol and Special Operations Division and is currently the Captain of the Patrol Division (nearly 400 sworn members). Mark is a high liabilities instructor in the areas of defensive tactics, firearms, police pursuit driving, expandable baton, less lethal munitions, disturbance and riot control, chemical agents and officer survival as well as Leadership courses in Line Supervision, Middle Management and "Creating a Super Breed of Sergeant".  He holds Degrees in Criminal Justice and Business Administration.  He is an adjunct instructor for St. Petersburg Jr. College and Lee County High Vo-tech / Southwest Criminal Justice Academy.
