The Criminal Street Gangs in 2009 webinar is a must for patrol, corrections and probation officers, investigators, counselors, and teachers needing basic elements of street gang identification and mitigation techniques. This webinar, newly updated for 2009, will provide an overview of the history, mentality, current trends, signs and symbols of the most commonly encountered criminal street gangs. This webinar is lead by an instructor with broad and deep field experience who will offer proven techniques for the identification and suppression of street gang activity in your community and school. This blunt, direct and informaiton filled "in your face" webinar, will discuss gang abatement issues, citizen contacts, racial profiling, and tactical operations used to combat gangs and keep you safe on the street and in the classroom. Topics include: history of gangs, current gang trends, gang identification, gang lingo and symbols, gang recruitment, officer safety and enforcement techniques. There will be an opportunity for online questions and answers during the live program.

About the Presenter
Capt. Tim Guerrette currently works with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office as the division head of the Juvenile and Delinquency Services Division. This Division encompasses over 100 agency staff members covering School Resource Officers, Street Gang Unit, and Serious Habitual Offender Programs. During his twenty plus years as an instructor, Captain Guerrette has had the opportunity to instruct in all fifty states on the topics of gangs, school violence, narcotics, and officer safety. Tim is a respected leader in the development of curriculum related to gang identification and school violence.

Tim is an Adjunct Instructor for St. Petersburg College, Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy, and contracts with the Florida Office of the Attorney General's Office to instruct gangs and schools resource officer related topics statewide.

Tim is a past executive board member of the Florida Gang Investigators Association and currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Youth Haven, provider of residential emergency shelter for abused, abandoned & neglected children in Naples, Florida.
