What do we think we are doing here, and how can we live a truly meaningful life? In this afternoon workshop, we’ll find out what the Buddha had to say about Right Intention and how being clear in our intention can radically transform our own lives as well as benefit others.

This workshop, taught by a Zen teacher who also is a professional coach, will start with an introduction to the settling practice of Zen meditation, then invite creative inquiry into our own lives.

We’ll start to bring to light the stories that we’re unconsciously telling ourselves about who we are, what’s possible and what’s not. We’ll then experiment with shifting this narrative—what happens when we tell the story a little differently, and what becomes possible when we listen clearly to the call of our heart.

You will come away with a bigger perspective on your life and simple awareness practices that you can weave into your daily routine, as well as opportunities for ongoing support to stay open, awake, and curious.

San Francisco Zen Center (SFZC)

Established in 1962 by Shunryu Suzuki Roshi and his American students, San Francisco Zen Center is a Soto Zen Buddhist community with three practice places in the SF Bay Area: City Center, an urban temple in the heart of San Francisco; Green Gulch Farm, in Marin County, where fertile fields meet the ocean; and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, the first Zen training monastery in the West, in the Ventana Wilderness inland from Big Sur. At San Francisco Zen Center, zazen, study, and work practice are available to a diverse population of students, visitors, lay people, priests, and monks. All are welcome!
