Risk Management - Project and Enterprise Perspectives

Our speakers will share with us their experiences and observations in the field of risk management.

Hartmut Kapp, PhD, PMP CAPM Clearstream Services Application of Project Risk Management in the Financial Sector

Dr. Hartmut Kapp will talk about PMI best practices for project risk management (PMBoK and PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management) applied in projects in the financial services industry. Purpose and use of project risk management is shown based on definition of risk and project risk management. An overview of the 6 PMBoK project risk management processes will be given and contingency reserves will be illustrated. Application focus is in the financial sector.

Novavia elaborates solutions for transforming organic waste to energy. The presentation will mainly
 be axed around critical issues and risks like longterm material supply or shortage and longterm 
energy price variations in partially deregulated environments.

Mr. Jean-Pierre Willems will share his experience of setting up an Enterprise Risk Management Framework. He will leverage MPEL’s experience of transfer of Know-how and its application to setup up an ERM framework at the Department of Transport of Abu Dhabi. Mr. Willems, will provide an overview of the key ERM principles based on this experience. The challenges will be assessed that lead to the conclusion that Risk is the management capacity to an intelligence of the situation, as sometimes referred, Risk is in the Management. Based on that conclusion, he will open up on the necessity to bundle the ERM topic to Life Cycle Cost for better decision making.
