Tips & Tricks for Launching a High-Growth Tech Startup in Miami

When it comes to places to launch an ambitious tech startup, Miami does not typically rank high on the list of obvious choices. Yet Bookigee Founder & CEO Kristen McLean believes there are some unique advantages in growing an early-stage company in Miami. Come hear Kristen talk about what she sees as the opportunities, including a unique creative viewpoint, specialized funding opportunities, and hidden resources, as well her advice on getting over some of the most common challenges young tech companies face in starting and scaling their business. Listeners will emerge with some practical ideas, resources, and hard-won advice for tackling a start-up of their own, no matter where they are.

Kristen McLean is the founder and CEO of Bookigee, Inc., a Miami-based company developing disruptive services and analytics for the rapidly evolving publishing market.  Before founding Bookigee, Kristen spent seventeen years in the publishing industry in various roles including frontline retailing, merchandising, buying, commission sales, directing a national publishing trade association, and managing marketing for a major US Publisher. As part of her role as an industry strategist, Kristen lectures nationally and internationally on issues facing the publishing world at venues such as Book Expo America (BEA), Digital Book World, and O’Reilly Tools of Change. Kristen is deeply interested in the confluence of emerging consumer behavior, technology, and publishing in the 21st Century. Find out more at www.kristenmclean.org.
